Burgundy Vibes from the CMVAS ’17

It’s definitely been a while since we met here, so I’ll use the opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year, Happy Valentine’s Day, and all the other holidays I missed out on.

The first blog post of the year is being served straight off one of Ugandan music’s celebrated award shows; the Club Music Video Awards 2017.

Last weekend was definitely one of my 2017 highlights so far. I was one of many fashionistas and music lovers that turned up for the awards at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

For the night, I went with a matching burgundy set from Kai Divo Collections, who also happens to be one of the it- stylists of the moment. I am still unsure on whether I missed the memo, but every one (literally) showed up in burgundy. At some point, I thought we were in the choir or something (lol).

Well, the matching set was my outfit of choice, and I did even manage to rock a crop top. Yes, ladies, even plus size girls can rock a crop top. It all comes down to how you dress it up, and the cut. So for my look, Kaijuka Abbas (the stylist) opted to keep the top with a high low effect, and then pants were high waist, that way, I was able to show off a little skin, without being trashy.

And my vamp face beat by make-up artist Fayth Presh was the perfect complement for the evening. This girl is total makeup goals!

Quite the coincidence that my date for the night, Jean Shaen (she is my cousin from another family) showed up in a sexy maroon number as well. So it was total bff alert and twinning goals for us

On a much lighter note, the CMVAs 2017 did have their highs and lows, with the production and set up by Fenon events being top-notch. I wasn’t really big on the outfit choices by the hosts but at least they did keep us cracked up all night especially comedian Alex Muhangi.

Till next time,

26 and Counting!

I turned 26 this year. Well I can’t deny that I feel very excited.

And even though I haven’t accomplished even one third of all the things I want to do, I am grateful for the blessings and opportunities I have received unto this moment.

Well, maybe it does feel strange being 26, single, with a struggling business plan, but still full of hope and many dreams.

To usher in the big day, I didn’t have a huge coloured themed party, but was rather treated to an amazing photo-shoot by one of Uganda’s biggest fashion blogs, http://www.FashionRepublique.net

For starters, Fashion Republique is not only one of my favorite blogs, but I also happened to have been invited on board as a guest writer for the week, during my birthday week. I mean, what more could the birthday girl ask for.

Well, I was treated to an amazing photo-shoot , shot by  celebrity photographer Onel Mujjumbura. If you are looking for a high end fashion shoot experience in Uganda, he is definitely your go to guy.

I was styled by Kaijuka Abbas for the shoot. Abbas is possibly the it-moment stylist in town. He  does have quite the eye for great style, and I loved all the pieces he put together.

The founder of Fashion Republique, Mugume Canary is not only one of the most ambitious people I know, but also quite accomplished, and I do wish him all the best in the world. Working with him on this project was a remarkable experience.

Here are the results of the photo-shoot.

The Abryanz-Ciroc Experience

I was one of hundreds of guests that turned up for the Abryanz Ciroc experience, as socialite Laker Dee, celebrated her birthday at a splash residence in Kololo.

Well, it’s not every day that you have the premium vodka join in as one celebrates another milestone in their life. And this particular celebration was not short of glamour, and glitz.

With a blue dress code rule, I turned to my favorite designer, Beryl Qouture by Anita Beryl, who made me this gorgeous matching separates  lacy ensemble.  I must admit, not in million years did I imagine myself stepping out in a crop top. Thank you Anita for making me kick this off my bucket list.

For anyone that has had the experience of being styled/dressed by the Ugandan designer, you will admit that any piece made by the couturier does make you feel like a princess, and that is exactly how I felt.

And many of the evening’s guests definitely put their best fashion foot forward. But of course, no one was going to beat the Birthday girl at her game, as she turned up in a white, bridal style gown, which she later switched to a yellow gown.

She definitely was the belle of the night, in her great and carefully selected ensembles.

The event was organized by the Abryanz events management, in partnership with Ciroc Uganda.
